Godzilla is a reboot of the franchise by the same name. The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, takes place in the present day; fifteen years after two chrysalises in a mine were unearthed in the Philippines. Inside of those pods were two radiation-eating creatures. Also awakened at the same time is a very large destructive predator known as Godzilla.

The visuals are absolutely stunning and Godzilla looks better than ever. For all intents and purposes this movie delivers on exactly what it was supposed to do. It keeps us entertained with the mythic creatures we’ve known since childhood. The acting, however, was mediocre at best. I wish Bryan Cranston had been around in the movie a little longer but the acting ensemble got a push in the right direction just having him in it at all. I’m not going to harp on the acting too much though because it’s a monster flick and we don’t watch them to see academy award worthy performances. This movie could have benefited from a stronger storyline. It takes a while for the story to get moving and it’s not really anything that’s going to stick with you and worth remembering. After watching the film you’re going to remember
